Dr. Craig Horton

Veterinary Surgeon

Dr. Craig Horton is originally from the UK but has lived and worked in Bermuda for the past 7years. He obtained a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from the Royal Veterinary College - University of London in 2010. He has also undertaken a certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Cert AVP)
He began his career working in a busy 24-hour small animal hospital in the London area. During this time, Craig performed routine surgeries and assisted with more complex surgical procedures. He managed hospitalized and critical care patients, including treatments and care plans and managing wounds, and worked up cases with an emphasis on diagnosing the underlying disease process.
At Ettrick we enjoy his quirky sense of humor and his caring and gentle nature with animals and their humans. Craig is our resident expert on all kinds of trivia! He enjoys running and swimming and likes socializing and meeting new people.

Dr. Jiri Heinz

Veterinary Surgeon

In 2002, Dr. Jiri Heinz graduated from the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Veterinary Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno, Czech Republic with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduating, he gained experience by working in a small animal hospital in Prague for 5 years.

Dr. Jiri then moved to the UK where he undertook a clinical internship at Fitzpatrick Referrals, specializing in orthopedics, followed by a one and a half year stint at an Emergency and Critical Care clinic. Dr. Jiri then made the decision to move to Bermuda and join the Ettrick team back in 2011. Although he practices general medicine and surgery, his passion is orthopedic surgery.

In March 2018 he completed a post gradual study in small animal surgery at The University of Liverpool, UK. He completed a synoptic exam and was awarded a post gradual certification in general small animal surgery CertAVP( GSAS).

In his spare time, he loves playing tennis, swimming, surfing, scuba diving and boating. He has an appreciation for art and music.

Ben graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2019, since then he has developed his passions including cardiology and dermatology. Dr. Rachel Lawrence

Veterinary Surgeon

Hello, my name is Rachel and I am returning home to continue as a veterinarian at Ettrick. I graduated from Edinburgh University (RDSVS) in 2018 with a Bachelor in veterinary medicine and surgery. For the past 5 years I have worked as a GP vet in a practice in Sheffield UK where I have mentored new vets and undertaken a managerial role as well. I enjoy internal medicine and would like to expand my knowledge in this area. I am returning home with my dog Gus and I am looking forward to many walks and exploring the island with him. I also enjoy weight training at the gym and swimming. I am looking forward to acclimatizing back to the Bermuda way of life!
