Senior Pet Health

As pets age, most will experience many of the same symptoms of ageing that humans do.  It is important to schedule more frequent veterinary visits as your pet ages to ensure they are comfortable and to enable early dedication of age-related diseases.

Senior pets may suffer from the following physical conditions:

  • Cancer
  • Heart disease
  • Kidney/urinary tract disease
  • Liver disease
  • Diabetes
  • Joint or bone disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Cataracts / Glaucoma

Senior pets may also suffer from the following behavioral changes:

  • Confusion
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Increased vocalization
  • Changes I sleep pattern
  • Toileting in the house
  • Decreased grooming

If you would like advice on how to improve your pet’s comfort or if you are at all concerned about your pet’s quality of life, we can help you to assess this during the exam.
